WHY CIRCUS?

There are so many great reasons to bring a National Circus Project program to your facility!  Here are just some of the advantages that this incredible physical education program has for your children:

EDUCATION & FUN GO TOGETHER

NCP circus programs have been designed to help motivate students to participate more fully in physical education and cultural arts activities. A circus program is exciting to students not only physically but mentally as well!  The skills taught in NCP workshops generate interest and enthusiasm, while encouraging self-confidence, motivation and self-discipline.  As one sponsor stated, “Students come away loving not only the experience of learning, but liking themselves more for what they have learned.”

INDIVIDUALIZED ATHLETICS

NCP programs introduce circus skills that are unusual and fun to do.  These skills are individualized, self-motivating, non-contact activities. Athletes and under-achievers alike can excel physically and improve their self-images, by learning skills that improve their abilities in a non-competitive environment.

GOOD FOR ALL BODY TYPES

While many competitive sports tend to fit certain body types or involve weight concerns, circus skills do not!  NCP programs provide physical activities forall types of children, even heavier or physically challenged individuals.

AGE SPECIFIC SKILLS

NCP programs are designed with age and motor-skill development in mind.  Each workshop is crafted to the needs and abilities of the participants, from K-12 and beyond.  Children are presented with skills that are challenging without being overwhelming or frustrating.   And, while children may lose interest or “grow out of” many sports activities as they move into adolescence, teens love circus activities! This can encourage more participation in physical education.

PROMOTES COOPERATION

The engaging nature of circus activities encourages collaboration with partner skills, and as circus acts develop, so does cooperation.  As circus skills are novel to most students, they all approach the learning process on equal footing and can appreciate the hard work, needs and abilities of others.

IMPROVES SOCIALIZATION

Like cooperation, social attitudes grow out of working together.  Because circus participants often must work together to perfect their skills in our student circus programs, there is an interaction that imparts a cohesive team spirit without requiring competition.

AESTHETIC APPEAL

The movement, music and choreography involved in NCP’s workshops and performance programs turns physical education into art!  Participants learn circus acts and routines which require teamwork, focus and self-discipline to perform.  This in turn promotes confidence and self-esteem in a safe, fun environment!

GREAT FOR SPECTATORS!

With up to 130 participants performing in a culminating event program, there is so much for the spectator to watch!  Parents, teachers and peers will be astounded by the amazing skills learned and the confidence of the performers.  Whether they are superstars or class clowns, all children have their chance to shine.
